We’ve all had a ‘great’ idea we never acted on, only to see someone else get the spotlight.

This used to make me “mad.”

“That’s so unfair.”

And yet, when I look back on all those times my “good idea” went nowhere there’s something they all have in common.

I didn’t take action.

Several years ago, I had the idea to taking all of Naval Ravikant’s tweets and turning into a book. I even hired someone to comb his Twitter to find the best. I ‘knew’ it would be a hit. Think Daily Stoic but with his tweets.

And that’s where I stopped.

I didn’t do another thing towards making it happen.

Today, I saw on Twitter someone ran with the idea (or something similar.)

They went from idea to making it happen, and they deserve every ounce of credit they get. (To be clear, I’m not saying they even “took” my idea.)

Instead of getting mad that someone built your idea, consider it’s a sign the universe thinks you’re lazy.

And it’s time to step up.
