    Should You Start A Blog?

Since I launched my blog in 2008 while I was in high school, many of my friends have reached out asking whether they should start one too.

No doubt, it's significantly easier to start a blog today than it was over a decade ago. Many of my high schools friends thought "blogging" was just a fad.

Thanks to the development of incredible 'no code' tools, most people who can use a computer to check email can realistically launch their own blog – which is pretty amazing if you ask me.

While virtually anyone can start a blog, does that mean everyone should?

My answer to most people is yes. Without a doubt, my blog and online presence has been 99% responsible for many of my relationships and almost every career opportunity I've had.

Sure, writing and producing content online takes hard work and patience, but it won't be long before your blog IS your online presence.

With very little downside, and unlimited upside, sharing your thoughts and observations is a powerful compounding effect. Who knows who will read your article or video 5 years from now?

You don't have to be a good writer (or look good on camera) to get started. Literally the only thing required is you hit publish.

Most of what you produce online will suck. Badly. That's perfectly okay. Over time you'll be able to look back and become inspired by your progress.

Of course, starting a blog is not a overnight fix. In fact, many people shouldn't start a blog with the sole purpose of "making money online." Blogging whether that be through the written word or audio is an incredible way to share your thoughts and get feedback in real time. Writing is one of the most effective forms of thinking.

Putting your thoughts on paper, can help you clarify and hone positions you may not be sure about. The internet is a great teacher for those willing to put their ego aside.

I'll expand on why building a blog is such a massive opportunity even though blogging and online media has certainly matured over the years.

Just like crypto, blogging is still in it's early days relatively speaking. It's been around for decades, but the benefits of building your brand online can often be nothing short of life changing.

Not only is blogging good for learning to think and improve how you communicate, it's also a great way to learn new tech skills that will benefit you well into the future.

When I started my blog on Wordpress, I had to learn basic HTML and CSS by necessity. In other environments I wouldn't be caught dead learning to code. However, the fact that I wanted to create an appealing online home made me dig deep and figure it out.

If you haven't yet started a blog, there are many fantastic tutorials and tools online to help you get started. Even if your computer skills are quite basic, there's literally no reason as to why you can't start a blog within the next 24 hours. Really.

If you want to start a blog, don't go looking for excuses as to why you can't. Set aside a few hours and get to work.
