According to legend, Abraham Lincoln once said “give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.”
Whether or not he actually said that aside, the message is incredibly powerful.
Too often we spend going from one task to the next in hopes of knocking out our seemingly endless todo list. Instead of having a sharp axe, we go from task to task with the same dull blade as before.
Yes sometimes putting your head down and cutting down the tree is warranted, but more often than not, our time would be better spent sharpening our ax.
What area of your life could use some sharpening? Use August to do just that.
