I've become increasingly convinced that 80% of success can be boiled down to doing what you say.
Amazing how rare that is these days eh?
You know... doing what you say you'll do.
Just because it's "acceptable" to backtrack on your commitments to yourself or others, doesn't mean it's okay.
We've become too soft. Too accepting. Too lax on the standards we set for ourselves.
And it's a huge problem.
If you agree to meet someone for drinks... catching up on the latest Netflix show is not an excuse.
If you agree to a deadline for work or otherwise meet it... every single time.
If you say you'll respond to an email, give feedback, or call the restaurant to make an appointment.
Make it happen.
If you say you're going to quit smoking, quit eating crap food, or quit being so negative... go to work.
Keeping your word is truly a super power of our time.
Of course, no one is perfect. You're going to make mistakes. But those should be the exception, not the norm.
If you're looking to make 2020 your best year yet, start doing what you say.
It just might make all the difference in the world.
I wrote this post for me. Perhaps you can relate.
