This is Part 2 of the Expressing The Real You Series. You can find the original article here.
How was the conversation within yourself? Did you find it difficult? Or did your answers flow? Hopefully you found the process rewarding. A few people emailed me asking, ” What if my purpose is to simply exist?” To which I responded, “keep searching.” The real you is still in hiding.
Self reflection is an essential part of unleashing the raw and uncensored you. You can’t be real unless you first look within yourself.
But here’s the thing. Sometimes looking inward can be scary. Raw emotions are powerful , and to the average person that can often be overwhelming.
Yet it’s imperative that you continue to search within and develop an awareness of yourself, because quite frankly, your the only one who can.
Lets continue exploring how to Express The Real You.
Condition Yourself
Are you being true to your own beliefs? Or are you letting society dictate them for you? Unfortunately, for many it’s the later.
No doubt, social conditioning is a powerful phenomenon which one can never be completely free from. However, it is important that you don’t let social conditioning impose upon the expression of your authentic self. Which by the way is to be happy and abundant in every regard.
Some common beliefs of society today:
- You have to have a 9-5 job to make a living.
- You have to take medication to be healthy.
- You can’t be paid to live your dreams.
- You have to get straight A’s or you’ll fail.
- You’re not enough.
All of these common conceptions are complete and utter bullshit. They have no true reasoning behind them. Realize you have the power to believe anything you wish. So make those beliefs empowering. Don’t sell yourself short and subscribe to the socially acceptable beliefs that hold you back. Be bold and and creative. Surround yourself with individuals who aren’t afraid to be real. Condition yourself to flourish and succeed.
Disconnect
Not succumbing to the beliefs and ideals of society is easier said than done. There will always be individuals telling you what you should or shouldn’t do. Many times these are the people who love and care about you most. Looking out for your best interests they often recommend you play it safe in hopes of never seeing you hurt. But in the process they hinder your ability to really live.
The solution to this is simple. Take sometime and disconnect.
- Journal - Explore the words that dare to be spoken. Find out what you really want. Let your emotions stream. Don’t hold back.
- Observe- Just observe. Don’t judge. Just listen. Don’t talk. Feel each sound and moment enter your awareness. Let the universe guide you into bliss.
- Meditate- Be still. Let the thought of nothingness enter your mind. Feel the ecstasy of emptiness. Tune in to your highest self. The power of meditation is extraordinary.
- Connect with Nature- Go for a walk. Appreciate the beauty of nature. Admire the vibrant colors. Acknowledge the life within.

Great Part II! I love the suggestions about disconnecting… I need to work on those more often!
This is a really good one. We really do need to question our own beliefs and make certain that we are forming our own opinions and finding our own truth. This is really what life is all about and everything we encounter is an opportunity to further our understanding.
Hey Bud!
My first visit to your blog, I’ve seen your comments on a number of blogs so finally decided I should have a look
Cool blog you have here!
Interesting you’ve lived in so many countries!
I was born in Holland, living in South Africa at the moment but I’m moving to Amsterdam for 3 months in December with my friend Glen (pluginid.com).
Keep up the good work
Cheers
